Ko Sin Tung is participating in a joint exhibition with Stephanie Sin at 100ft PARK, Hong Kong. Reflecting on her observations of architecture in everyday Hong Kong, her two-part installation abstracts the aging city to depict the rejuvenation of old buildings and the supporting structures for crumbling buildings. Hong Kong’s unique cityscape is filled with high-rise buildings, but its lack of land resources means that older parts of the city are constantly under the threat of gentrification. This process results in the displacement of rich, multifaceted communities with new, monolithic property development projects. Ko Sin Tung’s work represents the difficulties of making choices between virtually indistinguishable options, the fork in the road that Hong Kong currently faces.
