Laurent Grasso | Anechoic Pavilion
[15.05.12 - 15.06.12]
Laurent Grasso plays with the edges and the margins to form a minimalist and detached reality. At once seducing and alarming, his works often investigate the machines and systems that mediate modern life. The artist uses these mechanisms, as well as science, philosophy and cinema to create unusual perspectives.
Anechoic Pavilion is a life-size one-room cabin (with one small bed) that enters into a dialogue with the surrounding park. This cabin is constructed as a place to meditate, to face a long horizon, and yet it has also been scientifically dissected, cut in half with a glass wall enabling the spectators to monitor and observe the subject inside, potentially.
