Janaina Tschäpe and Los Carpinteros have been selected for the group exhibition ‘Social Engagement’ curated by Don Fuller at the USF Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) to mark the institution’s 25th anniversary. The show sets to celebrate USFCAM’s extensive history of exhibitions, commissions and collaboration with artists. In particular, it seeks to highlight its commitment to responsible social meaning, purpose and motivation in the public sphere. Returning to USFCAM, Janaina Tschäpe will be presenting a reconfiguration of her video work Blood, Sea commissioned by USFCAM in 2004 and filmed in Florida. Also on display will be a cutout installation that will be made on-sight. Los Carpinteros, who have collaborated with the USF Institute for Research in Art for nearly a decade, will reveal their seminal newly conserved and fabricated work, Transportable City (2000). Sited outdoors on the grounds of the Museum, the installation will be illuminated at night. This work is complemented by their recent film Conga Irreversible (2013), which will be projected inside the Museum.
