Tromarama, along with Asikin Hasan, have been invited to be one of ten pairs of artists from different parts of Asia to participate in the 2016 Kuandu Biennale. The Biennale aims to collectively create a new myth pertaining to Asian contemporary civilisations taking ‘slaying monsters’ as its main theme. The term has meaning across real-life and virtual experiences; it refers to defeating monsters in order to reach higher levels in the video game world but has also become an idiomatic phrase alluding to surviving hardships in real working environments. The Biennale explores questions such as what form the ‘slaying of monsters’ take in real-life and whether art has a role to play in ‘slaying monsters’.
